The Sacrament of Confession
Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.
-Catechism of the Catholic Church 1422
First Penance
This Sacrament, along with First Holy Communion, is provided during the 2nd grade for students enrolled in our Parish School of Religion program. Parents are required to attend preparation meetings in which they are given information to help their children understand the importance of the sacraments. Students are then tested by the pastor or teacher on their knowledge of the sacraments. The requirements to be eligible to receive these sacraments are:
-
Family must be a registered parishioner at St. Rose of Lima or Saint Patrick
-
Child must be baptized and provide a copy of certificate
-
Child must have completed one full year of Religious Education class. If you are new to the parish, please provide a letter from your former parish, indicating the child's attendance
